Can't Help but Wonder
I read an interesting post this morning on Logos and creativity.
I've thought before about the same problem in art. Is it possible to exhaust the possibilities in one medium? Will there ever be a point where there is just nothing more to do with painting?
This is a very different question than will there be a point where creativity is exhausted. I think artists will always find new fields, ideas and media to explore, but the question is as art moves forward what then happens with traditional media? We will ever run out of things to paint? For example. Or, eventually, movies to make without computer graphics or special effects?
And every time this thought pops into my head, I immediately think of how many times in the past we've thought we reached the epitome of creation and then gone ahead and invented something new.
However, I can't help but wonder.
